PRAGUE

The new fast trains will cover the route from Prague to Budjovice in 100 minutes

Sugar Mizzy December 10, 2022

Regular storms, unpleasant congestion and overall long driving times have annoyed travelers on the Czech Budjovice-Prague route for years. However, the modernization of the corridor has made significant progress this year, so from Sunday, when the new fares start to be paid, the trains will run for quite a while.

The trains can now travel at a speed of 160 km/h, until the installation of the ETCS system. They will then be able to accelerate to 200 km/h.

Thanks to the new lines, the train travel time from the capital to other cities will be shortened. The new express route between Prague and Tbor will take 59 minutes, shared the general editor of Sprva eleznic (S) Ji Svoboda.

They will thus travel 17 minutes faster than before the start of the construction of the new section from Sudomice near Tbor to Votic, which cost 6.7 billion crowns. The journey from Prague to Budjovice will take 100 instead of the original 122 minutes, Svoboda specified.

A new section of the corridor from Sobslav to Doub is also in operation. Thus, full-fledged two-track operation will now start here, and the speed will increase to 160 km/h. Two hundred is filled on this cut as well. The Myslkovice stop is new, instead of the demolished Roudn station.

Put on new kits

As for the regional train connections, they will experience only minor changes. This year, modern RegioPanter sets began to run on the tracks in large numbers.

At the end of the fifth year, we expect the gradual installation of new locomotives between Tbor and Ervena nad Vltava, said the spokesperson for Czech Railways (D) Petr Pota. The trial operation of regiopanters continues on the Rybnk Lipno nad Vltavou line, which D has extended until January 31, 2023.

During the period of validity of the 2022/23 train schedule, regional lines D in the South Region will run a total of 4.69 million km, a total of 331 trains will run in the region on working days.

The region paid 757 million crowns for the year D for operation. Take the railway carrier, including GW Train, and ride the trolleybus in the Eskobudojovick MHD, it will be 920 million, Ji Kafka, the manager of the Jikord company, which is the South Czech transport coordinator, told TK.

There will be two new tunnels

The south, which regularly uses the railway, is of course waiting the most for the complete modernization of the entire corridor between Budjovice and Prague. Hundreds of mistakes to add to the section between Evtne and Nemanice near Budjovice. It is 17 kilometers long and its mouth is two large tunnels Khotansk (4,810 meters) and Hosnsk (3,120 meters). That is why the estimated investment is 20 billion crowns. After its completion, the journey to Prague will be shortened to 90 minutes.

The modernization will be divided into two parts. The first is the construction of a bridge in the Budjovice section of the Czech Republic, the northern stop of the Nemanick triangle (1.2 km), the second in the Nemanick triangle section possibly, specified Duan Gavenda, speaking for Sprvy eleznic.

The division of the building is necessary in connection with the construction of the road known as the northern link on the outskirts of Budjovice. She will greet me this time with the construction of the railway.

However, we currently have a valid land decision issued for the city, and the processing of documentation for building permits and project documentation for building construction continues, Gavenda said.

St pot with the fact that this costly action could be ensured with the help of the PPP project, i.e. thanks to the pensions of private companies. This is how the D4 road between Psk and Pbram is now growing. The government has approved this option and now a feasibility study is being prepared, which will determine whether the PPP form is suitable for this stage of the railway.

The deadline for the completion of the work depends on how it is possible to get all the permits, buy the land and finish the huge tender. One day, the construction permit will be valid for five years. According to us, the first property was taken out and given. We should put out the tender for the contractor in the town itself, added Gavenda.

The start of the railway is now expected to start work in 2024. Everything could be ready in about 2028.
