This Tuesday, December 6, theToulouse 3 University – Paul-Sabatier has launched a campaign to appeal for donations in order to save the “forgotten portraits” of the faculty of health of toulouse, whose collection includes 45 oils on canvas depicting medical figures. The oldest date from 1776.
Since 2009, these the portraits are listed as Historic Monuments because of the local history and heritage to which they bear witness. However, “time having done its work, these paintings will arrive today from restoration work”, explains the Toulouse university. While two calls for donations have already been made, seven paintings having been restored, the establishment is once again calling for the generous support of art and/or medicine enthusiasts.
11,000 euros needed
Four paintings have this time been selected to benefit from a restoration, for an amount of 11,000 euros. A sum that the faculty hopes to dispense by June 2023, the kitty being already open and available by Internet.
