The WOP Festival about Quique González in Bilbao
A new edition of WOP solidarity festivalwhich will be held tomorrow at the Santana 27 room in Bilbao, starting at 7:30 p.m. and with tickets for 30 euros in advance, will once again allow Bilbao to enjoy the songbook of the rock singer-songwriter quique gonzález, which presents his latest album, Sur en el valle (Cultura Rock). Before, as opening act, the groups from Biscay will take the stage Mikel Rentería & The Walk on Project Band and Sotomonte.
The promoter Walk On Project (WOP) is behind this festival, which reaches its twelfth edition and this year will be held in the Santana 27/Fever room. Fully established after the participation of international bands such as The Dream Syndicate, The Jayhawks, Cracker, Elliot Murphy, Vintage Trouble, 091, Long Ryders, Los Enemigos, The Hives, M-Clan, Danny & the Champions of the World or North Mississippi All Stars, this year it combines a line-up with Basque and state musicians.
The program is led by the rock singer-songwriter quique gonzález, who will perform with his band in a closed room after the last leg of the successful tour to present his album Sur en el valle, which will be happy in theaters. The recital is announced as “more energetic” than the one offered previously at the Arriaga.
Although there will be some of those hits that his followers fall in love with, from Kamikazes in love to Vidas cruzadas, Dallas-Memphis, Salitre or La luna bajo el armo, his current tour serves as a pretext to present his latest album, Sur en el Valley.
Nature and the settings condition the internal dialogue that spins many of these last eleven new songs, from Amor en ruta to Te tiras a matar or ballads like Tornado. The current band of the man from Madrid, an admirer of the music and lyrics of Joaquín Sabina and Antonio Vega, is made up of Toni Brunet (guitars and backing vocals), Jacob Reguilón (bass and double bass), Raúl Bernal (keyboards) and Edu Olmedo (drums).
The event is opened by the Sotomonte group, led by the man from Getxo Jokin Salaverria. After years as a session bassist with Jonny Kaplan, he makes his debut as a leader with the album From Prayer to the Battlefield, full of classic sounds of rock and psychedelia from the 60s and 70s. Before that, Mikel Renteria and his WOP Band will appear on stage. , to present the recent Cuerdos de atar.

Also tomorrow, the Antzokia will open a concert of Maika Makovsky, who continues to tour to present his latest album, MKMK. It includes a repertoire that represents the return to electricity and rock of this composer, singer and guitarist.
