RISE // Fruits from the Republic of Moldova were sold, in 2022, on the markets of 30 states, compared to 18 in 2021
“Made in Moldova” fruits have reached 30 countries this year, according to the data of the Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters “Moldova Fruct”.
The diversification of sales markets has registered an important ascent, considering that local fruits were sold in 2021 products in 18 states.
The figures were presented by the representatives of the “Moldova Fruct” Association during the 8th National Conference “Fruit Business in the Republic of Moldova”, held in Chisinau on December 8 and 9, with the participation of over 150 fruit producers from all regions of the republic.
During the conference, fruit growers talk about the evolution of the fruit sector in the Republic of Moldova and the current year’s experience of exporting to different markets. At the same time, the challenges faced by fruit producers and exporters in the republic and the prospects for the 2022-2023 season are discussed.
During the event, it was pointed out that, this year, the European Union facilitated the increase in exports of domestic agricultural products. Thus, more plums, apples and cherries arrived on EU shelves without customs duties. At the same time, in the current year, domestic producers increased the areas of cherry, sour cherry and apricot.
“The role of associations is essential in the development of agriculture. Farmers who associate have more opportunities, in the context where competition is fierce both globally and regionally. Through association, input producers can sell products at competitive prices in larger markets and subsequently procure lower prices. Compared to individual farmers, association members make higher profits and face lower risks. We are aware that diversification of markets is the key to economic development. Together with “Moldova Fruct”, we had productive discussions in Egypt and we will remain focused on identifying new markets, additional to the existing ones. The Ministry remains a reliable partner for the entire agricultural community, which will defend the interests of farmers and will be involved in solving the existing challenges”, declared during the conference of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea.
The “Fruit Business in the Republic of Moldova” conference aims to provide viable solutions for the current challenges and the creation of the situation in the horticultural sector, within the sections whose topics of discussion are the latest trends in the sector, increasing the competitiveness of Moldovan fruits, new varieties, innovations in protection . orchards against disease and climate risks, packaging and sorting solutions and more.
