From welfare to job with bonus for employer in Amsterdam
The municipality of Amsterdam wants a bonus for people who go to work on welfare and for employers who keep people at work The parole.
There are plans for employers to experiment with a work bonus: if employees are taken off welfare and make measurable progress in their work, the employer receives a bonus. The municipality will also use resources for part-time workers who want to work more. Recipients themselves must be given an incentive to work in order to search by means of an outflow premium.
More than half of Amsterdammers on social assistance have been there for five years or longer. The municipality also notes that more people need guidance because of illness or disability to get to work and to stay at work. Since 2015, job seekers who are at a distance can no longer enter the Wajong or the social pre-work provision and municipalities have to pay for their support out of their own pockets. The city expects this group to grow from 5 to 15%. To play something, the municipality increases the pot of money for wage cost subsidies.
