University of Siena, the Pionta park in Arezzo is told with “TradUni”, the translation competition for schools
The Pionta park in Arezzo and its history, from asylum to university, are the themes of the “TradUNi” translation competition, open to secondary school students, promoted by the University of Siena.
There is time until 23 December to present the entries translated into one of the languages envisaged by the call: Chinese, French, English, Russian, Spanish, German and Ukrainian.
The bid is submitted by sending an original translation of the text contained in the annex to the notice, which deals with the history of the city’s important green lung, which now houses the university campus of Arezzo, as well as the San Donato hospital, the complex of the Istituto Galilei, as well as headquarters of numerous associations and institutions. It is possible to participate both individually and in school or spontaneous groups in the competition, which is open to the fourth and fifth grades of secondary schools.
The seven translations judged to be the best will be selected, one for each language included in the call; the jury may also nominate other special mentions.
Each winner will be awarded: two days of hospitality in the city of Arezzo, in conjunction with Translation Day to be held on 28 April 2023, participation in university life on the Pionta campus and reimbursement of travel expenses. Prizes are also provided for the class of origin of the winners.
The competition is promoted by the Degree Course in Languages for Intercultural and Business Communication held in Arezzo, in collaboration with the Europe Direct Center of the University of Siena.
The announcement, with the application form and the text to be translated, is published on the degree course website at: linguas-comunicazione.unisi.it/it/opportunita/concorso-traduzione-le-scuole.
