The Christmas shopping rush has just begun. To do their shopping in the city center of Toulousesome used to go on Sundays so they could enjoy the free parking in public car parks. Well, this year, it’s over!
The operation is not renewed
Requested by Toulouse newsthe municipality announces that the operation – it consisted of offering three hours of parking in public car parks on certain Sundays in December – is not not renewed in 2022.
To explain this choice, the Capitol relies on the sharp increase in attendance at the hypercentre of the Pink City.
“The Christmas market spread over six sites attracts a lot of customers, and it was decided in agreement with the traders’ federation to postpone the budget historically dedicated to this operation to other actions, aimed at promoting the economic dynamism and vitality shops in all neighborhoods at other slower times of the year.”
Reinforced metro and buses
With this decision, the municipality wants the diehards of the car in the city to use, for example, the bicycle or public transport.
Moreover, on Sundays December 11 and 18, 2022, Tisseo announces increased traffic on its network. The lines A and B of the metro are concerned, as are the buses L2, L4, L8, L9, L10, 19, 59 and 79. Exceptionally, the city center shuttle will also work on Sundays.
A way to avoid the big mess of last year where cars, bicycles and pedestrians had to share the hypercentre.
