The Republic of Moldova takes over European practices for regulating fats in food ~ InfoPrut
A workshop of good practices and exchange of experience in the field of regulating the amount of trans fats in food products and the development of the national control system in this field was held in Chisinau. The event was organized by the National Agency for Food Safety, in cooperation with TAIEX, the technical assistance and information exchange tool of the European Commission.
The event brought together over 180 participants from branch public institutions from the Republic of Moldova and Lithuania, representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Chisinau, the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization, the University of Copenhagen, as well as technologies from Lithuanian and Lithuanian manufacturing companies. “Today’s event is a historic one for strengthening the national regulatory system of trans fats in food products, considered the most dangerous fats for the health of the population. In the coming year, ANSA will pay special attention to the monitoring of the assortment of products from the risk group. At the same time, the institution will collaborate with all the actors involved to achieve these important changes and consumer health protection”emphasized the director general of ANSA, Radu Musteata, according to a press release.
The workshop participants also discussed the health impact of trans fats in the most popular industrial and food products in Europe, which are legislated to control them, as well as the WHO global campaign to eliminate trans fats by 2023 in the WHO EURO Region . .
