Sentences of up to 8 years in prison handed down in the Apt “cocaine drive” trial
If for 48 hours the atmosphere remained rather “extensive” in the room of the Avignon Criminal Court, the last minutes of the trial were, on the other hand, more tense. The arrival of the police a few minutes before the announcement of the decisions foreshadowed warrants of committal… and this is indeed what was pronounced against two of the Co-defendants present. If “criminal association” was not retained by the president and his assessors, on the other hand Grégory R. and Mathieu L. were found guilty in particular of trafficking, sale or transport of narcotics. Products necessary for the proper functioning of this “drive” located at the entrance to Apt, on the road to Avignon. The two men who are preparing to spend their first night behind bars are sentenced to 6 and 4 years in prison respectively.
Penalties heavier than the indictment
But what will also be remembered is the 8-year sentence due to the person who, over the course of the trial, appeared to be the real mastermind of this traffic, even going, according to the Prosecutor, to continue to give “information orders from his cell”. 8 years where the Prosecutor only asked for 6, even if the investigations did not make it possible to determine with precision the quantities of drugs sold or even the sums provided. Convicts have 10 days to appeal.
