Record tie break, Marcianise takes the derby against Napoli
There was a lot of anticipation for the match at the Sparanise sports hall between Volley Marcianise and QuantWare Napoli. The ex Saccone and Calabrese, the Spanish duel Ruiz-Fernandez, the first housewife for coach Nacci and a derby that ranks in the hand was worth double. Outside Vetrano between the hosts (he will return in mid-January) and Vacchiano inside Orlando and Bizzarro.
The first set starts with balance. Point by point with the two teams making too many mistakes given the importance of the stakes (12-12). The balance is total with attacks that respond on strike and everything is decided in the sprint. Canzanella makes a mistake on 24-22 and Marcianise brings home the first.
Naples restarts well after the 3-1 start. The defense takes suitable countermeasures and Nacci calls a suspension at 3-5. The Neapolitan attack seems transformed as well as Marcianise’s defense which has more difficulty (6-12). With a 3-0 break Marcianise halves the disadvantage but the guests manage to keep their head ahead (14-16). A dunk by Canzanella goes wide and it goes on 19-20. Di Prisco and Ruiz make mistakes and Napoli dig the decisive furrow by closing 22-25.
The tension is cut into slices, the balance broken by the points of Libraro and Orlando (6-4) but Napoli does not give up and always remains in the opponent’s wake. Libraro tries to put the arrow (16-13) but QuantWare is there. A block from Orlando brings Marcianise back to +3 but there isn’t a breather and Napoli are once again at -1 (18-17). Ruiz and Libraro score decisive points and Marcianise flies up 23-19 but instead of closing it, he suffers the return of Leone and his associates (23-23). We go to the advantages and Napoli keeps a cool head going up 2-1 (25-27).
It’s a hard blow for Marcianise who doesn’t start in the best way (2-5). Napoli makes little mistakes and stays ahead by three (9-12). Then the Casertani light up and in an amen they mend the gap (14-14). At 16-15 Calabrese has to call timeout because his eyes appear clouded. And the shock comes because on the pitch the result is reversed again (17-18). A three-point lead starts to become a lot but Lucarelli and Bonina don’t give up and we’re even again (21-21). A wall of the former Ottaviano is preparatory to the +1 of the house but we go again to the advantages. Di Prisco mocks everyone with a poisonous joke and we go to the tie break.
1-3 with Napoli immediately trying to escape. Libraro and an ace from Ciardo rebalance the result and at the change of field Marcianise leads 8-7. Sparanise is a bedlam, anything can happen and Saccone signs the point of 8-10 with Nacci forced to stop the game. Ace of Ruiz (11-11). Martino’s wall directs the victory towards Napoli. Lucarelli does not agree and we are 14-14. It’s an interminable point to point, a war of nerves won 29-27 by Marcianise’s heart.
