MOLDPRES News Agency – The Republic of Moldova has become a member of the World Tourism Organization
Chisinau, Dec. 8 /MOLDPRES/. Moldovan tourism has reached a new stage of development, after the National Association for Inbound and Internal Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM) became a member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a specialized organization for responsible and sustainable tourism that guides the global sector . towards inclusive growth. ANTRIM becomes the first and only sectoral association in Moldova, a member of the UNWTO, the US Agency for International Development announced yesterday, MOLDPRES reports.
“In the last year, USAID, through the Activity to Support Competitiveness in the Light Industry and Tourism, supported the strengthening of ANTRIM’s capacities as a leading institution in the sector, for the development and promotion of the tourism offer of the Republic of Moldova abroad. During this period, ANTRIM increased its ranks and reached 100 members, and Tourist Information Centers were opened in UTA Găgăuzia, Orheiul Vechi, Țâpova, Nisporeni, Călăraşi and Străseni”, the quoted source indicates.
The Activity to Support Competitiveness in the Light Industry and Tourism, an EDGE project in Moldova, financed by USAID, had as its objective the affirmation and maintenance of the Republic of Moldova on the global map as an authentic tourist destination, the development of the infrastructure and the tourist product. And in the last year, strengthening the resilience of the tourism sector has become a priority.
