An important comeback is on the horizon at EC Red Bull Salzburg! – Hockey-News.info – All news about national and international ice hockey
Tomorrow, Friday, the third win2day ICE Hockey League season comparison between EC-KAC and EC Red Bull Salzburg will take place in Klagenfurt (7:15 p.m., ICE live stream). The Red Bulls are looking forward to another duel in this classic and want to continue their winning streak, while the KAC are struggling to make it back to the top six teams in the league.
No matter how they are placed in the table, games between KAC and the Red Bulls always have something special. On paper, Salzburg have a good chance of winning for the second time this season in Klagenfurt – on October 30th they scored 4:3 after a penalty shoot-out in the new Heidi Horten Arena – if you look at the latest results. The Red Bulls recorded three victories en suite, while at KAC they alternated wins and losses. But the games were consistently tight against good opponents and the Red Bulls also had to be patient two days ago in Bruneck and pull out all the stops before the 2-1 overtime win against Pustertal was bagged.
Salzburg are third in the table and want to move up to the top three points (with one game less) behind the top teams Bozen and Innsbruck who have the same number of points. Klagenfurt is the right yardstick because you always have to do your best against the strong Carinthians if you want to score points. The Red Bulls also had to accept that in the first comparison of the season on October 2, when they lost 4:6 at home.
The protagonists are well known. With Nick Petersen, Lukas Haudum, Rok Ticar, Lucas Lessio and Matt Fraser, KAC have strong attacking power that cannot be allowed to play in front of goal. And there are not even strikers like Manuel Ganahl or Johannes Bischofberger listed, who have the same qualities. Similar to the Red Bulls, the Carinthians also have a compact team structure in which danger emanates from all four lines.
“The rivalry between the two clubs, which has grown over many years, is always noticeable,” says defender Paul Stapelfeldt. “Both want to prove every time that they are the better club. They’re a strong skating team with four good lines, so they can always keep up with our pace. And up front they have the class to score goals.”
The Red Bulls are attacking the classic with the same lineup as last time in Brunico and could get the next striker back in Ali Wukovits. The final decision will be made on Friday. Only convalescents Ty Loney, Troy Bourke and Paul Huber would be missing. “We have a very compact team on the ice again and would like to extend our winning streak,” adds Paul Stapelfeldt. “If we can pull off our best performance again, it will be difficult for KAC.”
