work in synergy and look to the future together to reaffirm the excellent collaboration between San Marino and Italy in the energy and environment sector
In the late afternoon in Rome at the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security the bilateral meeting between the Secretaries of State for Labor Teodoro Lonfernini and for the Territory Stefano Canti and Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin took place. At the center of the meeting – one of the first between the San Marino executive and the new Italian government – was the issue of the energy crisis that micro and macro countries are facing. Lonfernini recalled the agreement with Italy, renewed in December 2021 for another 10 years, on energy supply. ‘We are encountering procurement difficulties, the latest supplies are requiring sureties and onerous guarantees’, the Secretary in charge of Labor and Relations with the AASS was the first to intervene. ‘We have to work in synergy to respond to the emergency, financial and supply difficulties. The point of contact today was fundamental.’ Lonfernini then underlined the strong alignment of San Marino’s emergency plans with those of Italy, ‘through neighboring Italy we are also looking at the European Union’, he said. Secretary Canti recalled the first meeting with Minister Pichetto Fratin at the recent Cop27 and said how the theme of the new technological design infrastructures that San Marino will have to face in order to achieve greater energy independence has been studied in depth by looking at plants also present in Italy . ‘As the Italian Government’, said Minister Picetto Fratin – ‘there is a commitment to solidarity and intervention’.
