Toulouse continues to support theUkraine. On Wednesday December 7, 2022, the municipality launched a major campaign to appeal for donations on the Toulouse poster network to “help the Ukrainian people get through the winter”.
Toulouse is twinned with Kyiv
Since the start of the war, Toulouse has been equipped to support the Ukrainians. This strong link is explained by the twinning, for half a century, of Toulouse and the capital of Ukraine: kyiv.
A major fundraising campaign
With the chain of Russian attacks against the country’s energy infrastructure, millions of Ukrainians have to live without electricity, heating or running water as winter arrives.
To help them, the City is calling for donations. They can take several forms:
It is possible to support Ukrainians by donating money to associations such as Free Ukraine, The Red Cross, People’s Aid, Catholic Relief Services, Doctors of the World… These structures have local branches or partners in the field, closer to the needs and stakeholders.
- A material donation adapted to the needs
It will be possible to drop off physical donations in Hall 9 of the Parc des Expositions on the Ile du Ramier. Here is the list of requirements:
- Power generators from 2kW;
- External functional batteries;
- Lighting equipment: headlamps, torches, portable lamps, batteries, candles;
- Camping equipment: stoves, groundsheets, camp beds, winter sleeping bags;
- Heat backup equipment: new thermal clothing, heating pads, heaters;
- Medical equipment: water purification products, tactical medicine = care for injured people (suture kits, burn kits, compression bandages, dressings, disinfectants, antiseptics) – all medical products must be non-devastating, respecting deadlines of use at D + 4 months;
- Basic hygiene products – soaps, shower gels, child and adult nappies, postpartum nappies, sanitary pads;
- Food products: quick preparation products, requiring little water and energy during preparation, products with a long shelf life, nutrients – preserves, ready meals, nuts, almonds, dried fruits, energy bars, chocolate bars, instant meals, survival rations.
This collection center, managed by Ukraine Libre, will be open on Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
