One with a shot 5.50 euros – plus deposit!

Small consolation: The price for the celebrated German snack has remained the same. A bratwurst in a bun still costs “only” 4 euros. Oskar Brumbach, who runs a bratwurst stand at the Engel market on Neumarkt: “We don’t want many people to be unable to pay for a visit to the Christmas market, but of course it’s hard for us too.”
Another bratwurst stand owner, who wished to remain anonymous, told Tonight News: “We only make 15 cents on every bratwurst sold. I’m not a steak anymore, but I couldn’t raise the price of 6 euros any more.”
The price shock is also reflected in the rush. Compared to the pre-Corona years, there are significantly fewer visitors to the markets to treat themselves to something – successful showmen instead of bustle! Bratwurst man Oskar Brumbach still has hope: “We started earlier than usual this year. We usually only start on the Monday after totensonntag. Maybe people aren’t in the mood just yet.”
