Draw women EM: Liechtenstein U19 in the group of three – Liechtenstein
NYON – The second round of the European Championship qualification was drawn for the U19 women. Liechtenstein are in a group of three with Scotland and Albania in the B division.
In November 2022, Liechtenstein’s women’s U19 national team played the first round of the European Championship qualification and celebrated a great success with a goalless draw against Lithuania. Despite this point win, Liechtenstein were subsequently relegated to the second round of qualifying in League B with the weaker teams, where they were drawn in a group of three with Scotland and Albania.
The qualification will be held in the form of a mini-tournament, which will take place between April 5th and 11th, 2023 in Albania. LFV sports director Rene Pauritsch is happy that the draw gave the Liechtenstein team a group of three and not a group of four. “For our youth teams, with their mostly rather limited squads, it’s definitely better to only have two games. Experience shows that in a third game there’s often a lack of strength,” said the LFV sports director. From a sporting point of view, both games are very big challenges. Scotland are relegated from League A and Albania just missed out on promotion to League A despite two wins in three games.
The schedule is not yet known.
