Brutal murder in Vršovice, Prague: Disgusted Jaroslav Kadlec murdered a girl
A twenty-one-year-old saleswoman from Prague’s Vršovice was murdered on December 6, 1984 in Rybalkova street in Prague 10. She identified the girl’s body as her own father. On the fateful evening, Ludmila went to sit with friends in the pub U sadu in Žižkov. Because her blind mother was worried about her, she left the restaurant before the others. Twenty-nine-year-old Jaroslav Kadlec had a beautiful crush on the girl all evening. The obscene harassment did not go unnoticed by friends, and Kadlec was kicked out of the pub.
Probably no one expected what the disgraced man would do. The rejected Kadlec waited for Ludmila at her house. There he dragged her to the yard and began to strangle her so hard that he broke her tongue. According to the police, the rape did not take place, although the rapist probably planned it. A witness found the strangled and naked girl at half past nine in the morning, who reported everything to the police. Criminal investigators immediately began to investigate and search for the perpetrator who did the monstrous act. They knew they had to act fast and if they didn’t find the culprit within 48 hours, the chance of impact would be slim. The whole of Prague already knew about the case, because the police turned to the public with a request for help. The brutal murder is being talked about on TV and all the newspapers wrote about it.

A week after the murder, the criminal was contacted by a woman who was walking her dog on the fateful night. At one point the dog started barking loudly and furiously, then Kadlec, whom the woman knew well, came out of the bushes. The police discovered that Kadlec has already committed several assaults. The last one happened in November of the previous year, when he attacked a woman in Franciscan Garden. This was helped by two foreigners, who rushed to the woman’s aid. At that time, Kadlec was not convicted for the assault, the act was classified as a restriction of personal freedom, and the investigation took place at large.
Kadlec did not want to confess to the murder and initially denied everything. He stated that he knew Nováková and that he waited for her at her house, but he just kicked her legs and left. “I got a little drunk, but I don’t play tricks like that. I’m no murderer,’ he claimed to Jiří Markovič, head of the Prague murder party. The thread from Kadlec’s pants proved him in the end. It was identical to the one found on the genitals of the murdered Novák.
“I was for decent girls zero, they always pulled me away from me, at most some whore caught on to me” Kadlec regretted. After several hours of questioning, he ran out of strength and confessed to the crime. Kadlec was sent to prison for 23 years for brutal murder.
