At Art Antwerp, 68 galleries show work by more than 300 artists. Fifteen galleries come from the Scheldt city itself. For example, comparable values such as the Tim Van Laere Gallery and the Gallery Sofie Van de Velde and Plus One Gallery duo put their Antwerp talent in the spotlight, and De Zwarte Panter – the oldest gallery for contemporary art in our country – is present with a collective presentation by Fred Bervoets and his students Tom Liekens and Nick Andrews. Young galleries such as Everyday Gallery and Ponti and the unknown Newchild Gallery will also be present. More than half of the galleries come from abroad. Some big names are among them, such as Galerie Lelong, which shows Pierre Alechinsky, among others, and Laurent Godin, who brings the Belgians Peter Buggenhout and Sven ‘t Jolle. Nino Mier Gallery presents a solo by Thomas Wachholz and Nosbaum Reding shows work by Tina Gillen, who allowed the Luxembourg pavilion during the latest Venice Biennale. Modesti Perdriolle Gallery introduces the public to the Indian art scene. For the second time, Art Antwerp joins forces with Artsy, which provides the online part of the fair. Klara head of the network Chantal Pattyn, chef Peter Goossens and Kersvers Modeacademie director Brandon share their coup de coeur of the fair.
