Salzburg is struggling for a long time with the Pustertal stragglers
After hard work, Red Bull Salzburg extend their winning streak to three games. In the addendum to the 5th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, Salzburg won for the first time in overtime against Pustertal with a score of 2:1.
In a very first third, neither team can create complete chances. Consequently, the opening section ends goalless.
The picture at the beginning of the middle third is unchanged. Then the South Tyroleans go in front out of nowhere: Spinell decisively deflects an actually harmless wristshot from Plastino (26th). But Salzburg responded promptly: Schneider played the disc across to Nissner, who converted from just a few meters away (28′).
Neither Salzburg nor Pustertal can keep the momentum for the rest of the season in the middle section – 1:1 at the second third break.
Heinrich takes care of the decision
In the third third, the guests come out of the cabin better, but miss the well-known lead. As a result, Pustertal comes into play better again and also shapes the last section.
The extension must ensure the decision. There Heinrich coldly exploited a defensive mistake by Pustertal and used the break-away to win (61st).
Pustertal can still be happy about a point and is now in eleventh place with 25 points. Salzburg is keeping pace with Bolzano and is still in third place with 44 points.
