Portugal thrash Switzerland with hat-trick by Gonçalo Ramos and will face Morocco in the quarterfinals of the World Cup – Observer
Ronaldo’s absence, the favorite song and the game with Morocco. Gonçalo Ramos sums up the (great) night he never dreamed of
There were three goals and a great night in Gonçalo Ramos’ debut as a starter in the World Cup. Although before the game there was talk about the absence of CR7 in the starting eleven, the Benfica player said that in the locker room it was different: “Honestly, in our locker room nobody talked about it. Cristiano as our captain did what he does every game. He helped us, motivated us and gave me a word of support both for myself and for everyone else ”.
Explaining in a press conference that he had only had time to call his parents and best friends, Gonçalo Ramos addressed the next game, in which Portugal will “enter with everything”. “The game against Morocco will start 0-0. Today’s result no longer matters.”
Asked about tonight’s performance, the Benfica player declared that not even in his wildest dreams had he thought of debuting as a starter in the elimination phase of the World Cup with a hat-trick. “In relation to model players, Ronaldo is an idol for many. I also like Lewandowski and Ibrahimović”.
In a more relaxed moment, the journalists asked Ramos to say what was his favorite song – and what he would like to hear when he scores goals. “This song has some profanity. Maybe it’s better not to mention it. Other? The music when we score is good. It can go on like this.”
After the press conference, Gonçalo Ramos went to receive the Man of the Match trophy. Upon receiving the award, he was asked which teammate he would give it to if he could choose: “I would give it to the whole team because without the whole team it is impossible to win games”.
