“We live in a small cul-de-sac and in the night from Saturday to Sunday, if we had to go out by car for an emergency, it was impossible for us to do so. Ditto if the help had to come on the spot, they were unable to come to our house “…
Two days after only one rave party is installed Paléficat district, northeast of ToulousePascale Noirot, who lives in the neighborhood, still can’t believe it…
Saturday December 3, 2022, around 10 p.m., the organizers of the rave party forced the gate of a shed located in the neighborhood, at 38 chemin de Virebent. Then, hundreds of cars and vans invaded this area, known to be the last rural district, From toulouse. Parking in the small streets, in the dead ends, hundreds of partygoers then headed to the targeted site to welcome this wild party.
1000 participants, the police intervene
According to the figures provided by the organizers to the local residents, it is indeed around 1000 participants who occupied the hangar before being dislodged, around 9 am, by the police.
Around thirty members of the Compagnie départementale d’intervention (CDI), the motorized brigade for departmental road safety and the anti-crime brigade (BAC), indeed intervened to put an end to the demonstration, before “carrying out multiple verbalizations”, indicated to Toulouse newsSunday morning, a police source.
Second rave party in a few days
“Sophonic sound, bottles of alcohol swung everywhere”, illegal parking going so far as to prevent residents from leaving their homes, for several hours, the latter were at the forefront of the event:
Pascale Noirot, who is also president of the residents’ association, wrote to the neighborhood mayor, Maxime Boyer:
“Clearly, the Paléficat district is very popular, Saturday evening from 10 p.m. the Virebent path, and the Paléficat path, were invaded by hundreds of vehicles: cars, trucks, vans, camper vans parked everywhere, blocking the possibility of circular in certain paths. I don’t know what you can do, but it’s the second time in 15 days. We don’t want to put up with that again.”
Paléficat, the squat district
On November 12, a first similar event took place, with the same modus operandi, according to Pascale Noirot:
“Sunday, in the early morning, we spoke with one of the organizers who explained to us a comment on this type of event. The place, unoccupied, has been spotted. An announcement informing about the holding of the event was posted on the internet. The organizers have put several hundred places up for sale on the internet. Another part of partygoers paid on the spot. One of the organizers told us that the evening brought in 18,000 euros”.
According to local residents, the Paléficat district would now be a privileged area for squatting or organizing this type of rave party because land and buildings are unoccupied pending the completion of one of the largest urban projects to come in the agglomeration.
An upcoming urban project
On this currently sparsely populated space, it is the equivalent of the neighboring city of the Union which must, in fact, come to settle in the next 15 to 20 years. About 15,000 new residents are expected. Between 6,000 and 7,000 housing units are to be built, which is one of the largest real estate operations in the conurbation.
“What poses a problem for us today is that in view of this project, a lot of land bought back is left fallow, explains Pascale Noirot. This opens the door to this type of event, as well as to the arrival of squatters and the creation of deal points, which we have seen for several months”.
Dice “drifts” which now overflow the anger of local residents.
