Conti buys another carrier service company in Sweden
Third acquisition in less than six months to be able to offer “total solutions in all of Sweden”
Stockholm, Sweden – Continental AG has acquired a third conveyor belt specialist in Sweden in less than six months, a move aimed at consolidating the German manufacturer’s industrial position in Sweden’s mining regions.
The German group has agreed to buy Växjö-based Backes Transportbandservice AB from founder Jan Backes, Conti said in a statement on December 2.
It will be acquired, it added, is “a leading service provider for the material handling industry in southeastern Sweden.”
The acquisition follows Conti’s two other purchases of conveyor belt services in Sweden earlier this year, namely the takeover of Vulk & Montage in September and NorrVulk AB, in Gällivare, northern Sweden in July.
“Together with Backes Transportbandservice AB, we will soon be able to offer customers from southeastern Sweden a complete service and solution package in addition to Continental’s current product portfolio,” says Conti in a statement on December 2.
The “strong service presence”, Continental said, will expand the group’s offerings beyond individual services or belts to “complete solutions throughout Sweden” in the future.
Backes Transportbandservice AB was founded in 2008 in Växjö and supplies a range of products including belts, belt scrapers, industrial hoses, shields, wear rubber, air springs, drive belts and vibration control products to local industries.
