City of Salzburg – The city of Salzburg is helping: “Electricity price umbrella” fixed for 57 clubs
It was finally fixed in the municipal council on December 14th: “We help 57 cultural and sports clubs in the city of Salzburg with our low electricity tariffs and also assume a default liability of 350,000 euros to Salzburg AG,” says Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP).
According to the city manager, around two million kilowatt hours of electricity can be made available for just under 5 cents/kWh because the city has already contractually secured its electricity tariff for 2020 and is saving electricity. The beneficiaries include the Mozarteum Foundation, the ARGEkultur and the playhouse, the adult education center, the ASKÖ, the Postsportverein and the Sportzentrum Mitte. You are threatened with a six to eightfold increase in the electricity tariff.
Preuner: “We agreed on our electricity supplies with Salzburg AG back in May 2020 and fixed the tariffs for 2022 and 2023. Last but not least, due to a variety of energy saving measures, our power consumption will be well below the amount of electricity ordered. On my behalf, this free contingent will now be transferred to a municipal cultural and sports club whose contracts expire at the end of the year. My special thanks go to the department head of MA 2 Dagmar Aigner and our energy expert Franz Huemer from MA 6.”
