Archdiocese of Salzburg invites parishes to the “Mutmensch” campaign
Salzburg, December 6th, 2022 (KAP) The Archdiocese of Salzburg invites the parishes during the Advent season to find so-called “courage people”. These are people who should be brought in front of the curtain because they can encourage other people through their life story or their role model function. Archbishop Franz Lackner supports the initiative: “Confidence gives courage to act and has a contagious effect on others. In view of the current challenges, it is small signs that make great fortunes,” said the archbishop in a broadcast on Tuesday. The Archdiocese’s “Mutmensch” campaign will run until Christmas.
Courageous people and their stories can be found on the Archdiocese’s social media at #Mutmensch or on the Archdiocese website (https://eds.at) Find. Some parishes have already found their courageous people: in the parish of Taxham, for example, the artist Monica Argentino has translated the theme of courage into pictures, among other things. The pictures are exhibited in the church and on every Sunday in Advent musicians will play a piece of music. For the pastoral assistant there, Szidonia Loerincz, courage means: “To meet people where they are: whether in joy, sorrow or peace.”
Another encourager is Peter Ebner, pastor for the elderly in Hellbrunn and Nonntal. As St. Nicholas, he wants to encourage young and old in difficult times. “Saint Nicholas stands for more justice in the world. It brings joie de vivre to young and old. That’s encouraging,” says the theologian. For him personally, encouragement means: “Finding and strengthening the potential of each individual.” Listening, friendliness and a smile are encouraging gestures.
