“We have at least twenty bronchiolitis a day”, warns a pediatrician in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
“I happen to receive 60 to 70 patients per day*”*, notes the president of the French association of outpatient pediatrics, Andreas Werner, in his office in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. “We talk about bronchiolitis in babies before two years old, but the same virus can reach older children too, there is everything”.
The period is synonymous with work surcharge for Andreas Werner, December and January being the season of bronchiolitis. “This Saturday, I was in the office until 6 p.m. Sunday, I came back for patients who were really bad.” Doctor Werner claims to arrive at saturation. “This significantly increases the workload. What remains essential now is to increase the number of pediatricians in town.” He explains that he has to refuse several patients a day in his office.
