Prague – The men who attacked a journalist from the Aktuálně.cz server during a protest against Czech Television (ČT) and the government on November 17 in Prague face a fine of up to 20,000 crowns. He faces suspicion of an offense against civil coexistence. On twitter this was announced by the police today.
“The police evaluated the incident as a suspicion of an offense against civil coexistence, when the suspect who attacked the journalist committed a rude act,” the police said. She forwarded the matter to the Office of the Municipal District of Prague 1 for consideration. “For this offence, there is a risk of a fine of up to 20,000 crowns,” she added.
Server Currently.cz published a video the day after the protest showing what happened around his reporter Radek Bartoníček. Bartoníček stated that during the demonstrations, he mapped the general events, conducted interviews and filmed the crowd in front of him. During that time, some individuals defended him outside the front of the procession, preventing anyone from moving, he described. “One of them knocked over my mobile phone, which I use to film,” he added. In a statement, the Aktuální editorial board objected to being perceived by the media or journalists as representatives of the parties to the disputes that they independently report on.

Thousands of people took part in the protest against CT and the government on the anniversary of November 17, 1989 and 1939. They passed through Prague to the CT building. The march complicated traffic in Prague, it closed the main road from the center to Pankrác for about two hours, and the transport company had to divert the replacement bus service to metro C as well.
