San Marino. Education and science, signed memorandum for cooperation between the Republic of San Marino and Georgia
“A few months after the celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of San Marino and Georgia, the official visit to the Titan of SE Mikheil ChkhenkeliMinister of Education and Science of Georgia and his delegation”.
The Ministry of Education gave the news, specifying: “Chkhenkeli had held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary of State for Education and Culture Andrea Bellucci on the sidelines of the work of the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Environment for Europe in Cyprus last October. Already on that occasion, the two ministers had discussed the possibility of signing memoranda of understanding in the sectors of education, science and research and the exchange of students and professors.
Two months after that meeting, the signing this morning at the Belluzzi Secretariat of the first Memorandum whose direct cooperation ambitions are the exchange of academic staff, teachers and students on programs of mutual benefit for both Parties; the exchange of information on the system and structure of general, vocational and higher education and on new educational technologies; the training of the teaching and administrative staff; the launch of research projects on topics of mutual interest; the organization of bilateral scientific seminars; the award of scholarships for further education at recognized higher education institutions of both Parties; the implementation of credit transfers and similar programs between recognized higher education institutions of both Parties and the possibilities for mutual recognition of academic qualifications; cooperation in any other field of education and science established by mutual agreement of the Parties.
The agreement also provides for the promotion of synergies and mutual cooperation within UNESCO and other international organizations of which both countries are members in the educational and scientific fields”.
Andrea Bellucci: ‘Minister Chkhenkeli’s visit is the confirmation that, for a long time, our two countries have been cultivating excellent and fruitful relations and are united by an old friendship, based on maximum collaboration and mutual respect. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of San Marino and Georgia dates back to 1993, the thirtieth anniversary will be celebrated next year. Opportunities for discussion and dialogue on common issues interest have been many, to date the ambitions of collaboration are different and qualified. They range from cooperation in the field of culture to that in the field of tourism as well as cooperation in tax matters. With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of Education and Science this morning, this list has been further enriched.’
