The analysis, according to PDS director Petr Urbanek, showed that the distribution of preferred professions in the metropolis is relatively uneven: “This is mainly related to the distribution of large hospitals and university campuses as places with thousands of workers in one location – it is mainly Prague 1 and 2, Prague 5 , Prague 6 and Prague 8.” According to the analysis, there are about 370 members of key professions per 1,000 inhabitants in Prague 1, 297 in Prague 2 and 137 in Prague 5.
The authors of the analysis used public sources to determine the number of employees. According to the document, there are about 49,200 employees in the healthcare sector in the metropolis and 43,400 in education. In social services, the analysis lists 6,150 workers and security forces, which include the republican police and city constables, amount to 5,900 employees. According to the document, there are about 840 fire protection employees in the capital.
According to the Czech Statistical Office, Prague has approximately 1.28 million inhabitants. However, as the city’s Institute of Planning and Development found out some time ago from anonymized data mobile operators, there are actually about 300,000 more of them. In addition, approximately 200,000 other Central Bohemians travel to the metropolis daily.
According to statistics, there are approximately 4.5 million households in the Czech Republic. According to last year’s survey by the initiative for housing, up to 600,000 households were already experiencing housing problems. Of these, up to 350,000 spend over two-fifths of their income on an apartment, up to 190,000 were at risk of losing their housing, and up to 60,000 lived in an unsatisfactory environment. 12,000 people slept outside or in dormitories, of which four fifths were men. The number of homeless has remained the same in recent years. According to experts, the Czechia will not solve the problems without a housing law with a clear division of the roles of the state and municipalities, as well as the financing of the housing crisis.
