Budapest Memorandum
On December 5, 1994, Ukraine signed the Budapest Memorandum. Our state gave up nuclear weapons, in exchange for this, Russia, the USA, Great Britain gave our state security guarantees. Ukraine, in turn, fulfilled its obligations under the 1996 agreement and destroyed 2,000 strategic nuclear warheads inherited from the USSR.
