Comment on the Facebook profile about the decision of Prague 7 to return the abused dog back to the owner
A few months ago, I wrote about a dog whose owner threw him off a 7-meter wall by the embankment in Prague’s Holešovice.
It was only a miracle that he survived and nothing serious happened to him. The dog was taken to the Prague shelter and administrative proceedings were initiated against the owner. The Prague Veterinary Administration came to the conclusion that the man abused the dog and it should be removed, because it cannot be ruled out that he will not be there in the future either.
Unfortunately, I learned that the Municipal District of Prague 7, which was supposed to decide how it would turn out, ultimately evaluated the case in such a way that it will ignore the expert opinion of the veterinary administration and hand the dog back to the owner and punish him only with a monetary penalty.
I am very angry with this procedure of Prague 7, which absolutely ignores the instructions of the Veterinary Administration and wants to hand the dog back into the hands of the bully. They probably think that the little dog suffered a little, and they don’t care that they are mainly punishing a defenseless animal.
I realize that the law unfortunately does not give many options and there is only a small chance to reverse this situation, BUT that is definitely not a reason why I should give up. And so I say again: animals are not things, they are living beings – and decisions should always be made in their favor.
