Indonesia, Sweden Partners in Green Sustainable Cooperation
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – To celebrate 70 years of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Sweden, the third annual event of the Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership (SISP) 2022 is filled with an appeal to promote sustainable cooperation to a green and environmentally friendly industry, in the event of unfolding itself, the conference provides approaches in terms of sustainable goals in the various sectors, especially transport.
Sweden’s Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Andreas Carlson, spoke about his home country Sweden, especially within the state and private sector within the industries that undertake to contribute to a sustainability transition to tackle the climate situation. The transport area has enormous potential for smart sustainability to a greener change. As the world grew and population densified the world, the use of transportation increased. Fossil fuel-based vehicles are still manufactured and have brought challenges in the approach to sustainable goals. “Electricity produces 25% of greenhouse gas emissions, significantly less than petroleum-based transport, therefore it is needed in our bilateral cooperation to increase the organization and smart transport for the climate situation,” says Carlson.
The Director General of Sea Transportation, Arif Toha Tjahjagama, as a representative of the Minister of Transport Budi Karya Sumadi, who is not present in the seminar, has given interest in strengthening relations and creating a sustainable goal of an environmental society and an environmental economy. In the strategy for an environmentally friendly transport system, he and others present at the seminar propose a rapid mass transition in electrifying transport, the Jakarta provincial government has committed to producing electric buses for Transjakarta and to commit to a full transition of all bus fleets (>10,000) to electric until 2030.
“Hopefully it encourages all stakeholders to a common understanding that can lead to a prolonged cooperation with transformation in transport to continue to maintain our pursuit of sustainable goals,” said Arif Toha.
As the demand for sustainability increases, Indonesia’s and Sweden’s collaboration in SISP 2022 provides three pillars of support, which are financial, capacity building and technology. To strengthen the commitment to sustainability, a signing cooperation between Transjakarta and Swedfund, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PT Kereta Api Indonesia and SKF’s manufacturing company and the C2C cooperation agreement during the opening of SISP between Pidi 4.0, SKF, Ericsson, Hexagon were carried out.
