Francesco Gaddini brings the Pisa fire brigade sports group to gold
In Ostia Lido (Rome) the FIJLKAM (Italian Federation of Lota Judo Karate and Martial Arts) took place the Senior Italian Cup for freestyle wrestling. Francesco Gadini of the Sports Group of the Pisa firefighters won the gold medal with a superlative performance. The performance of his teammate, the rookie, was also excellent Nicholas Rizzo who surprisingly won a bronze medal.
Francesco Gaddini competed in the category up to 70 kg, he dominated the preliminary rounds presenting himself determined to the semifinal, liquidating the Neapolitan Mario Esposito before the time limit of the meeting. In the final he found himself facing the Roman Gianluca Colletti who he beat on points (4 to 2). With this great test Francesco reconfirms himself at the top of the national struggle in his category after a long absence due to a serious injury.
Nicola Rizzo has ventured into weight category up to 65 kg, arriving in the semifinals by easily solving the matches in his favor before the limit. In the semifinal he found himself in front of Riccardo Di Giosia from Ascoli who interrupted his path to the final. However, he made up for it by winning the final for third place by technical superiority before the limit (score 10 points higher than the opponent). Great hopes are placed in him by the coach Fabrizio Mainardi given the excellent performance of him in his first big appointment. Gioele Alessi and Damiano Michele Sforzi also competed both in the 86 kg category, but they had to stop in the elimination phase, however demonstrating tenacity and determination, greater experience will help them in the future.
The outcome of the away match for the Italian Cup is more than positive, demonstrating that the sports group of the Pisa firefighters in the fighting sector is in excellent health and that it still has its say on the national field. President Nicola Cianelli, as well as commander of the provincial command, can be proud of the wrestlers who are growing up in the barracks gym.
