FC Lézignan-Corbières reacted as a team against Avignon
Despite a very full infirmary, the Lézignanais won hands down in the Vaucluse (6-20).
Getting around in Avignon is often complicated. Saturday’s match could have been just as problematic with, in addition to an already full infirmary, two last-minute packages. “Mickaël Tribillac did not feel well during the trip. In the end, he did not get off the bus, probably because of gastroenteritis while Jason Baitieri felt a spike behind his thigh”explains the trainer, Philippe Laurent.
To compensate for these unavailability, the coach had to call on junior Valentin Cols, while Thomas Monclus, present on the match sheet, was not aligned after the attack he suffered last week. “We couldn’t be more in trouble”admits the coach lézignanais.
But, as so often, it is in difficulty that the groups present themselves “We were united, physically we were well, we stood up together like the young people who were all in tune”analyzes the “green and white” coach.
A victory (6-20) acquired with heart and guts which bodes well before the reception of the scarecrow Albi.
U19 defeat
In U19, the juniors knew that in the current conditions a victory in the third would be a feat: “We played our best game of the season. So, yes, this defeat (36-16) hurts us, but it’s a reference game on which we will be able to build”analyzes the coach lézignanais very reassembled after the match. “Faced with a great Carpentras team, we had to deal with catastrophic refereeing, but despite that we weren’t very far away: I’m proud of my players”ended the coach of the U19 lézignanais.
The great adventure continues for the FCL U15s who brilliantly qualified for the final of the League Cup: “It’s a great victory for a whole group that has risen to the level of the challengewelcomes the coach, Stéphane Martin. With an increasingly close-knit collective and hard-working kids, our goal is this final now”.
The Gazelles bow heavily
Among the women, the step was too high against a very efficient Pia team. The FCL bows 50 to 0: “We are still building and this defeat is also part of the progress of this team”, comments coach André Tournier. The black point is, on the other hand, the exit on injury of Ambre Zunjic, victim of a cervical sprain: “She is one of the leaders and will probably be absent until the start of the school year”, said coach Balou. The FCL Gazelles are qualified to play in the final of this League Cup against Réalmont.
In U13, the young Lézignanais lost 32 to 4 against a great team from Toulouges.
Finally, it’s confirmed, the FCL will organize a fan zone with bodega and burgers for the France-England quarter-final after Saturday’s match against Albi.
