Experimentation of the extinction of public lighting
As part of its sobriety plan, to reduce energy consumption, the City is experimenting with turning off public lighting from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. in different places in the territory.
After analyzing the technical constraints and in connection with the residents, the City is experimenting with the total extinction of certain sectors and streets of the city’s territory. The lighting will gradually turn off every day of the week between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., corresponding to the end and the resumption of the bus network. This trial of switching off public lighting from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. will be rolled out gradually by sector in two phases:
- Since the beginning of November, a first phase, lasting one month, will mainly concern the sectors of the delegated municipalities of Annecy-le-Vieux, Meythet and Seynod. These areas, in green on the map, are equipped with modular cabinets equipped with astronomical clocks, making it possible to quickly set the desired lighting times.
- A second phase, deployed by the end of February 2023, will gradually concern the delegated municipalities of Cran-Gevrier, Pringy and several “pockets” of Annecy, disseminated in red on the board, due to the need for additional hardware to be added in order to make the experimental settings.
In order to guarantee the proper functioning of the safety device, some areas will not be affected by the extinguishing, in particular the hearts of towns, in yellow à la carte.
This measure – in the form of experimentation – is added to those already known for the extinction of monuments after 10 p.m. and the reduction of Christmas illuminations, shifted to December 2. Actions that are part of the City’s sobriety plan
