Charlène of Monaco brings the magic of Christmas to Jacques and Gabriella
On December 2, 2022, Princess Charlene performed Monaco’s Christmas Village with her children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. A magical afternoon in which also participated Charlotte Casiraghi, the niece of Prince Albert II.
By applying on the red button, this Friday, December 2, the hereditary prince Jacques and the princess Gabriella – who will celebrate their eight years on December 10 – then inaugurate the Christmas festivities. Under the tender gaze of Princess Charlene of Monaco as well as the mayor of the city, Georges Marsan and his wife, the majestic tree lights up, like the entire Christmas market.
If Prince Albert II is absent due to travel to Germany, the twin princes are delighted to be with their mother again. To complete this pretty family picture, Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, daughter of Baroness Elizabeth-Ann de Massy, first cousin of Prince Albert II, and Charlotte Casiraghi are present.
After being presented with a bouquet of flowers by a dancer from the folk group La Palladienne, Princess Gabriella, still as facetious, does not hesitate to bend protocol by hugging a little boy after a dazzling spectacle of dance. Her spontaneity makes adults laugh, Charlene the first.
Still installed on Port Hercule, the Christmas village is themed on the island of Spitsbergen, a Norwegian island in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. A tribute to the great-great-grandfather of the current sovereign, Albert I, whose Principality marked the centenary of his death in 2022. Nicknamed in his time the “prince navigator”, he led a remarkable expedition to beginning of the 20th century.
This year, the festivities rhyme with ecological sobriety with 1100 luminous decorations made of 100% biodegradable sugar cane, an ice rink authorized by a 1,000 m2 roller track and 800 fir trees which will be recycled into compost in January.
A commitment to sustainability that does not prevent magic. Despite the cold, the main family strolls with a smile in the middle of the attractions and the stands in the style of mountain chalets in the gourmet scents of caramels and candy apples. To see the amazed eyes of Jacques and Gabriella, the magic of the holidays is there.
At 5 p.m., everyone heads for the Place du Casino in Monte-Carlo where Santa Claus and Olaf, the snowman from the Snow Queen to light up the facade of the building and the Christmas installations. For the occasion, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella are joined by their little cousin Raphaël Elmaleh, 8, the son of Charlotte Casiraghi and Gad Elmaleh. An enchanted reunion!
