Toulouse. The Spacer’s are launched on the right track
The Toulousains, 10th in the standings, achieved one of their best performances of the season. A good omen for the next matches.
After the fourth victory of the season, Friday against Tourcoing, Patrick Duflos was a happy man. “It’s a great victory, which feels good mathematically, but even more than the result I remember the very high quality of play that we were able to produce”, rejoiced the Toulouse coach.
Faced with the fifth in Ligue A, who had won four of his five previous trips, Maximiliano Chirivino’s teammates actually achieved one of their best performances of the season. And as often in volleyball, it all started with an “excellent reception”. “Max (Chirivino, the smuggler) was able to play as he likes: by asking for a lot of spending and alternating with the wings”, deciphers the central Luis Séné (11 points). Nikola Kartev, his sidekick was not left out with 12 points on the clock and no doubt he would have moreover deserved the title of MVP of the match than Daniel Cagliari.
Finally winning two games in a row…
If the sharp Brazilian finished top scorer of his team (18 points) he owes it above all to a very good fourth set (8 pts) while his first three sets had been sluggish until then. But there again, the libero Facundo Santucci prefers to see the positive in it by retaining “that he has come back very well, which is very difficult to do so I take my hat off to him for that”. “We had a very good match in terms of concentration, from start to finish because even if we lost this third set (22-25) we quickly managed to bounce back,” said Séné. “We are disappointed with our start to the season but we are not panicking, we are looking for solutions and if we continue like this, we will go up in the standings”, promises the Brazilian. “We had consistency”, also welcomes Duflos who encourages his men “to continue to move forward and to continue”.
Message received by Santucci: “We are not in the place we want in the ranking (10th) so we have to change that. We are going to face direct competitors (travel to Plessis Robinson and reception of Paris, editor’s note) and we must take advantage of this victory to be part of a good dynamic.” Starting by winning two games in a row, which the Spacer’s have not yet managed to do since the start of the season, would already be a first step…
