Sibol MLBB again bids for title with coverage of Slovenia – Manila Bulletin
Team Sibol MLBB got their 14th IESF World Esports Championships campaign back on track, defeating Slovenia 2-0 to advance to the second round of the lower division in Bali, Indonesia on Sunday, December 4.
Still licking his wounds after a stunning loss to Indonesia to start the day, Sibol made sure not to take Slovenia for granted and went on a tear in the opening series.
The Filipinos took control of the contest right from the start and cruised to a 23-3 victory in just nine minutes of play. With Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna providing support to the dual shooter Sibola lineup with his Rafael pick, both Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario on Granger and Kiel “Oheb” Soriano on Beatrix snowballed and dominated their counterparts.
Oheb finished with a flawless 13-0-4 line, while Salic “Hadji” Imam added a nice 8-0-10 KDA to Valentine’s pick.
The Filipinos showed no signs of letting up in the second race as Hadji and Oheb showed exactly why they are the defending M4 World Champions and led the European representatives to finish.
Oheb unloaded another perfect 9-0-7 line game on Wanwan, while Hadji did most of his backline damage with a 7-0-11 on Pharsa. The Filipinos closed out the series with a dominant 26-3 win in the second game.
The Filipinos will now face the losers of the upper division match between Argentina and Indonesia on Tuesday, December 6.
Meanwhile, in other titles, Sibolov Andreij “Doujin” Albar bowed out of Tekken 7 competition. He failed to qualify for the next round after rounding out the eliminations with a 2-2 tie, not enough to place in the top 2 of his group.
They started the competition with back-to-back defeats against Ivory Coast and Poland before bouncing back with wins over Colombia and Laos.
In Dota 2, Team Sibol continued their strong run in the tournament, currently holding a 3-1 record in the group stage after defeating Venezuela, Nepal and New Zealand while losing their game against Myanmar.
The team, consisting of Charles Delos Santos, Joel Pagkatotohan, James Erice Guera, Jomari Anis, Eljohn Andales and Mark Anthony Rubina, concludes the eliminations with a match against Costa Rica later in the day.
