Portugal returns to Maia to play access to the final stage of the Davis Cup
The Complexo Municipal de Ténis da Maia was the stage chosen by the Portuguese Tennis Federation for the round of Davis Cup Playoffs between Portugal and the Czech Republic. Scheduled for the 4th and 5th of February 2023, this is the access round to the Davis Cup Finalsa new final phase of Davis Cup🇧🇷
Played on clay and indoors, this will be Portugal’s fourth round in a round of access to the finals, after 1994 (defeat against Croatia), 2017 (defeat against Germany) and 2019 (defeat against Kazakhstan).
The men’s national team seeks to reach the elite of the team competition for the first time, which was reformulated in 2019 and adjusted in 2022.
In 2023, a group stage of Davis Cup is scheduled for the week starting September 11th, in four locations (one group per city), while the Final 8, with the top eight teams (two qualified per group) in direct knockouts, taking place between November 21st and 26th in Malaga.
The tie between Portugal and the Czech Republic will be the second within 12 months to be held at Complexo Municipal de Ténis da Maia. It was precisely at this location that, in March 2022, the Portuguese team celebrated a 4-0 victory against Poland in the Pay of the World Group I, triumph which was followed in September (3-1 to Brazil in the World Group I at the Cultural Center of Viana do Castelo) to reach the Davis Cup Playoffs🇧🇷

Playing on this magnificent Central Court was an obvious choice since the City Council of Maia was available not only in terms of the complex, but also to support us and, therefore, we joined the will of the two entities, which have had a very close relationship in recent years. .”
