Milan prepare new contract for French hero Giroud
Olivier Giroud continues to provide crucial goals for France at the World Cup, so Milan are preparing a new contract to tie down the 36-year-old.
The striker moved from the periphery of the Blues team to their starting centre-forward, due to his fine form in Serie A and the injury of the Ballon d’Or winner. Karim Benzema.
He scored three goals in three World Cup appearances, including the opener in the 3-1 round of 16 win over Poland.
It was son 52n/a for France, allowing him to set a new absolute record for his country, surpassing the 51 achieved by Thierry Henry.
It just confirms the form Giroud already had for Milan, where he has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 19 games this season between Serie A and the Champions League.
His contract with Milan only runs until the end of this season, but even before the World Cup exploits in Qatar, there were already plans to grant him an extension.
Gazzetta dello Sport note that there is now added pressure as his performances will attract interest from MLS and UAE clubs who can offer huge wages.
