Grenoble wins against Angers in the Magnus League, Rouen wins in Nice
The Brûleurs de Loups de Grenoble continued their march forward in the Magnus League on Sunday during the 22nd day of the regular season. At home, the reigning French champions and current leaders in the standings dominated the Ducs d’Angers (5-3), another big name in French ice hockey and third in the standings.
The Angevins led twice at the start of the match, then Grenoble scored four goals to lead 5-2 with a quarter of an hour remaining. Sacha Treille scored a double for the Isérois, who were also able to count on Joël Champagne, Kyle Hardy and Damien Fleury. Angers scorers were Jonathan Charbonneau (twice) and Brendan Harms. In high demand, Evan Cowley, the Dukes’ goalkeeper, made 41 saves.
Finally a victory for Chamonix
The Rouen Dragons, second in the standings, won on the ice of the Aigles de Nice (5-2), on goals from Kelsey Tessier, Rolands Vigners, Ondrej Roman, François Beauchemin and Sacha Guimond. The Normans struck four times in the second period. After eight losses in a row, Chamonix finally signed a victory. The Pioneers beat the Cergy-Pontoise Jokers (5-1), with doubles from Antti Virtanen and Jakub Cerny.
Les Rapaces de Gap won against Anglet (3-1) and took fourth place in the standings at Cergy. Julian Junca, the Gapençais goalkeeper, made 39 saves. Finally, the Mulhouse Scorpions clearly won Briançon (6-2). The Red Devils, bottom of the standings, led 2-0 in the first quarter of an hour, before cracking.
