First home defeat. Aero won the opening set, then the Lions were already scoring
“The opponent gave a very good performance, I had the feeling that we stopped believing in each other after the second set,” said Aero captain Marek Šulc after the match, adding that his team mainly focused on serving and receiving in the end.
The first set was won by the home team, who took a two-point lead before the end and expertly held it. The second set also started evenly and both teams often took turns in the lead. The home team went to the blockbuster again by two points 22:20. However, they failed to put together the subsequent attack and the Lions then scored four points to make it 1:1.
The Olympian brought a point from the unpopular hall. Rather a loss, coach Němec assessed
The home team had a better start to the third set and at one point even led by four points, but Prague pulled back in a short time and the fight for every point won and the break began again. The guests went into the end with a three-point lead, which they were able to finish despite the combativeness and desire of the opponent to take a 2:1 lead in sets.
The fourth act was deservedly directed by the concentrated playing of the Praguers, who were able to bounce back from the start and kept the home points away from each other. Although the visitors did not do well in the attacking phase, they played without mistakes and with purpose.
“Prague played well, it’s a shame that we didn’t maintain our concentration and patience at the end of the sets. In the last set, we didn’t offer any resistance to Prague and they went for the victory,” summed up the match coach of the losers, Marcin Kryś.
According to his counterpart, it was a balanced and tight match mainly from the first to the third set, and the turn at the end of the second was probably the key. “We got our power back again, and the arrival of Kollator helped a lot. Then we played better until the end of the match,” said Juan Manuel Barrial.
