Assault of a policeman in the Pisa prison 3 December 2022
More violence in the Don Bosco prison in Pisa with prison police personnel attacked by a prisoner. The Uil-Pa union of the Penitentiary Police reported the incident.
“Yesterday, December 3, a prisoner confined to the penal department brutally punched a policeman, causing him significant wounds to the face with a prognosis of at least 7 days – underlined by the territorial secretariat of Pisa – at this point we ask again once more security within the Institutes, it is no longer tolerable to leave the prison police helpless and defenseless who are forced to
dealing with subjects of such social danger who are allowed to carry out any disturbing act”.
“The consistent presence of inmates with psychiatric problems has long been the cause of serious problems with regard to the order and safety of prisons in Tuscany and the country. Those responsible – comments the Uil PA Penitentiary Police – take into consideration the critical issues of the house district of Pisa, c
evidently it is no longer in a position to manage too many types of confidentiality, with the presence of subjects with particularly violent personalities, with no possibility of a different placement within the institution”.
Giuseppe Proietti Consalvi, deputy secretary general of OSAPP (Autonomous Union Organization of the Penitentiary Police) also intervenes on the episode: “Only in the last ten days – he underlines – there have been many critical events, mostly caused by attacks against the prison policemen and this in the absence of measures by the competent office deposited by the Regional Provveditorato which, on the contrary, continues to warn with high danger and with multiple precedents also in other prisons of the district”.
“For months now we have been denouncing, at this point, unfortunately, completely to no avail – concludes Giuseppe Proietti Consalvi – the situation of the Pisan Institute which, in addition to the failure to restructure the structure, has recently been targeted with continuous provisions of assignment Furthermore, the inertia on the part of the prison administration is serious which, especially at the central and regional level, does not take the necessary directives in order to restore order and security in the institutions of the Republic and, as regards Tuscany and Umbria, in the Institutes of Pisa, Lucca, Massa, Siena and Perugia”.
