The Republic of Moldova announces a contract to reduce the risk of further massive blackouts
Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu announced on Saturday the conclusion of an agreement that he says will reduce the risk of “massive power outages” in the country, Reuters reports.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova recently faced power outages in almost the entire territory in the context of massive Russian missile attacks on the energy infrastructure in Ukraine.
According to the announcement made on Saturday by the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, also the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the state company Energocom signed the electricity supply contract with the Cuciurgan Power Plant (from Transnistria) for the month of December.
“Also, we agreed to analyze the option of extending the contract for the period January-March 2023, in order to provide the whole country with electricity”, stated Spînu.

- “Quantity: for December, approximately 204 thousand MW. This quantity, together with the bilateral contracts in Romania, is sufficient for all the consumption of the right bank;
- Price: $73;
- MoldovaGaz will deliver 5.7 million m3 of gas per day to the left bank, including MGRES;
- CSE and ANRE are to decide on the electricity tariff reduction. Citizens will pay less for electricity”.
Spinu mentioned that this contract is a reasonable compromise to ensure the citizens on both banks of the Dniester with electricity and gas.
The right bank will use the gas from the reserve we have accumulated, in the context in which, for the first time, the right bank is no longer dependent on the gas delivered by Gazprom, the minister also declared.
He concluded that, with the signing of this contract, the risk of massive disconnections from electricity is reduced.
