Play active: Fair for young and old as a real crowd puller
There is good news for board game and leisure enthusiasts. After a two-year break, the Spielmesse will take place again this weekend in the Innsbruck exhibition center. Countless visitors from small children to old age were inspired by the supporting program and the more than 1,000 different games. The fair is also open on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
INNSBRUCK. More than 1,000 different board games and a colorful supporting program with a bouncy castle, bowling alley, magic show and many other highlights await the visitors of the active game. After the forced two-year break, countless visitors streamed into the exhibition hall on the first two days of the fair. Family and Generations Councilor Astrid Mair also got an idea of the hustle and bustle on site. “Playing together is not only for entertainment in all age groups, but also promotes togetherness and solidarity. At the same time, there are numerous games that strengthen thinking, riddles or a sense of strategic action. I was able to convince myself of this during my tour of the fair, which was also characterized by many exciting encounters,” says Mayr.
For all ages
The board game area in particular has continued to develop over the past few years. Board games have long outgrown the niche of children’s toys. Hundreds of new games are released every year. The spectrum ranges from children’s and family games to connoisseurs and expert games, for which board game professionals like to take several hours. This year there is also the opportunity for interested parties to present themselves with board game developers and illustrators, and playing prototypes that are still in development is also possible this year. Numerous game explanations offer interested parties the opportunity to venture into new games without having to read the often page-long instructions.
For those with an affinity for board games, we recommend the family game (+) after a test game First Rat, which you can borrow at the Pegasus stand (2nd floor) and will also be explained to you. As a rat, you try to be the first to fly to the cheese moon. The playing time depends on the number of players, for two it takes about 45 minutes and is extremely entertaining.
