Applied and effective! These are the qualifiers that characterize the performance of the Rouen Dragons this Friday, December 2, 2022 following their victory (5-2) obtained against the Gothic of Amiens. The Rouennais chained at home a third rank success and showed consistency throughout the game, which hadn’t happened to them for a while.
Difficult beginnings despite domination
However, after sixteen minutes of play, it was the Amiens who led the score (0-1, 16’05), after a somewhat lucky goal from Morin, when the start of the match had been to the advantage of the dominant Rouennais , but lacking in inspiration. It only takes a few minutes for Fabrice Lhenry’s players to react and return to the mark thanks to Christophe Boivinwell helped by his linemates (1-1, 18’59).
Already interspersed with a few features in the first period, the two teams are sanctioned in turn at the start of the second tier. This does not disturb solid Rouennais in inferiority and who are opportunistic. Like Bovine which proved to be alone against goalkeeper Picard after a puck recovered by Mallet against two defenders from Amiens (2-1, 25’19). The small Quebec forward offers himself the double and at the same time places his team in the lead.
Effective superiorities
The Normans even quickly made the break since a penalty against Amiens saw the Dragons make the break from par Winegrowers after a superb combination with Roman and Tessier (3-1, 26’40). The Amiens coach asks for a time out to stop the bleeding.
This unfortunately does not have the effect proposed for the Goths who have proven to be new unruly. The Rouennais take out the same players on the ice and the penalty is similar with a goal of Winegrowers as a result, well served by Tessier (4-1, 28’30). Largely in the lead at the halfway mark, the Dragons controlled the match, but in their turn inferior, following a weakness, Simonsen, for Amiens, found the way to the nets a few moments from the end of third time (4-2 , 39’21).
Relaunched, the Picards make it known to their hosts who do not refuse the invitation to a general fight to conclude the period, as in the best days of this derby.
Under muscular derby
Calmed by the break, the actors rejected on the ice for the last twenty minutes when the outcome of the meeting is not yet fully decided. This becomes clearer after a few minutes, when a simplified news from Amiens sees Mallet conclude all the work of the Rouennais power-play again very effective this Friday (5-2, 46’36).
With this mattress of three goals in advance, the Dragons control the debates until the last moments when a last scuffle Gibb and Vigners warm up the public before the final siren.
I’m happy, we took the game from the start. It was physical and engaged. Amiens had good times, but overall we worked well and were able to win the duels
Thanks to this victory, the Dragons of Rouen retain their second place in the Synerglace Ligue Magnus standings, three points behind the leader Grenoble and tied with the Ducs D’Angers. A classification which could well change from this Sunday, December 4, 2022, since Grenoblois and Angevins meet while the Rouennais will go to Nice to face the Eagles.
