Ex-soccer star Martin Hinteregger goes on the ice! – Hockey-News.info – All news about national and international ice hockey
Martin Hinteregger only recently ended his active football career. The former national player remains sporty and now dares to go on the ice in his Carinthian homeland.
In the Carinthian state class, Martin Hinteregger is working on his ice hockey career at HC Köttern. In contrast to his football career, in which he provides stability on the defensive, Hinteregger wants to show his skills on the offensive. “The ideal position has not yet been found,” the Carinthian told the “Kronen Zeitung”.
Köttern has another team that plays in the better lower league, his goal is to make it there too. As a Carinthian, Hinteregger grew up with ice hockey, at Derby he cheers for KAC, but he also has many friends with the blue and white team.
“My heroes have always been Mike Siklenka and Andrew Verner, I often meet up with Thomas Koch to go fishing, and I’m also good friends with Harry Lange.” If you see Hinteregger on the ice, you immediately notice the blue outfit. How did that happen?
“I played ice hockey for the last time in 2009, and my equipment has been in the closet ever since. My buddy Lukas Herzog took me to the VSV dressing room last time. There he got pants, shoes, visor and underwear from Chris Collins, but with one condition. I always have to wear VSV socks,” laughs Hinteregger.
