Visitors also enjoy an accompanying program in the form of a local cultural scene. The tourist information center of the city of Brno, which it organizes with the city district of Brno-střed, tries to keep the Christmas markets in a cozy atmosphere. “We don’t pay for any stars because we want to support the local cultural scene and local artists. It also fits into the overall idea of Christmas markets, which belong to us and the artists come from here,” said the director of the center, Jana Janulíková.
Over 150 different performances will take place on all stages during the twenty-nine days. Náměstí Svobody will be part of every afternoon and at least two concerts. Visitors will hear folklore, folk, country, jazz, swing, pop, rock and Christmas songs.

There will also be an event under the auspices of Deník Česko sings carols. It will be held at six on Wednesday, December 7, starting at náměstí Svobody.
Sunday performances by choirs operating in Brno will be a novelty.
Reaching out to local music groups means financial savings for the city.
The cultural program is one of the things that Brno tries to save on. Because of the covid break, the city had to contribute to the Brno Christmas this year. “Savings are of course a big topic. Before covid, Brno Christmas was a self-financed project. In the time of covid, due to the limited conditions, especially in the gastronomic scene, which is the most important part of the income from the Christmas markets, there was a slump. However, we are gradually managing to get back to the condition of 2019,” said Janulíková, adding that the city does not want to reduce the quality of the market offer or the facilities, such as consumption zones.

From the snacks offered at the stands, you can look forward to, for example, the traditional Christmas Turbomošt, which, like the special egg liqueur called Báječňák, will be prepared by Lidi z Bar. “We are all very much looking forward to this year’s Christmas markets after the long covid break,” said Michael Lapčík, spokesperson for Lidí z Baru.
People in Brno can also enjoy Advent at the markets. For example, in Ivančice, Christmas markets with an accompanying program are held every Friday
