Activists of the Last Renovation movement block the rue de Rivoli in Paris, nine arrests
After operations on the Paris ring road in recent weekends,
Last renovation activists this time acted in the heart of Paris. Nine of them have formed a human chain, blocking the rue de Rivoli for a few tens of minutes this Saturday, December 3, 2022, in the 4th arrondissement.
They were called between the BHV Marais and the Hôtel de Ville, forcing cars and scooters to change routes. After 30 minutes of blocking, the police intervened and pushed them back to the side.
The nine activists were arrested and taken into custody. They wanted to be alerted to the adoption in the National Assembly of the bill “aiming to protect housing against illegal occupation”. A text that reinforces the sanctions against squatters but for Last renovation, it “persists in criminalizing the poorly housed“.
