Toulouse: an explosion then flames in a building in the Ponts-Jumeaux district, firefighters bring dozens of people to safety
Firefighters are currently containing the advance of the flames in a building in the Ponts-Jumeaux district of Toulouse. The fire would have taken after the explosion of a gas cylinder.
“We heard an explosion. Then we saw flames of at least ten meters”. This Friday, December 2 from 9:15 p.m., the firefighters intervene in the Ponts-Jumeaux district, rue Roland-Garros for an apartment fire.
The fire would have taken on a balcony, the explosion would be due to a gas bottle. Huge black smoke billowed out. Children under the arm, fathers and mothers fled the building block to find themselves on the sidewalks and the park of this building.
The firefighters deployed significant resources to ensure that no casualties were to be deplored. Two firefighters were slightly injured during this intervention, due to the fumes. The firefighters carried out numerous security checks upon their arrival. A spear was needed to put out the disaster and a second to prevent it from spreading. The rapid action of the emergency services made it possible to limit the number of victims to five slightly injured (including the two firefighters) who slightly inhaled smoke. No casualties taken to hospital so far. Six vehicles from SDIS 31 are engaged and 21 firefighters are on site to fight the flames and shelter the inhabitants of the damaged building.
