The car of Susanna Sline, who is the first counselor of the Italian embassy in Athens, was completely destroyed, after fire set by strangers in the parking lot of her detached house, on Blessa Street 68, in Papagou.
Firefighters who went to the scene managed to put out the fire and shortly afterwards found remains of a bottle with flammable liquid, matches and lighters.
18 firefighters with 6 vehicles responded to the scene, while in addition to the car that was destroyed by the fire, another one was also damaged.
According to information from zougla.gr, EL.AS is investigating the possibility that the arson is connected to the arrest of the Italian anti-authoritarian Alfredo Cospito, who has been conducting an operation since October 20 in Ferrara prisons.
“We strongly condemn the cowardly arson attack targeting the car and home of diplomat Suzana Slain in Athens. Undivided solidarity and sympathy to our colleague and the staff of the Italian embassy as we await the findings of the authorities regarding the serious criminal act,” he wrote to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy wrote on Twitter: “Attack against the first counselor of the Italian embassy in Greece. I called Susanna Schlein to express my solidarity. I will be in Athens today to meet Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. I will complete the Italian embassy.”
